Dakota Premier Medical Clinic offers DOT Physical Exams performed by FMCSA-certified medical examiners and submitted directly to the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME).

We know drivers don’t have time to sit in crowded waiting rooms or deal with long delays. Our clinic offers scheduled DOT exams designed to get you in, evaluated, and back on the road as efficiently as possible. 

What is a DOT Physical?

A DOT physical is a federally required medical exam that ensures commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers are physically and mentally qualified to operate safely. The exam follows Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines and determines eligibility for a Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC) depending on medical findings for commercial drivers.

What is included in the exam?

Your DOT physical typically includes:

• Review of medical history/chronic conditions
• Vital signs
• Vision and hearing screening
• Urinalysis (screening for glucose, protein, blood)
• Physical examination

What to Bring to Your DOT Physical Appointment

To avoid delays, please bring:

• Valid photo ID
• Glasses or contact lenses (if used for driving)
• Hearing aids (if applicable)
• List of current medications
• Medical records for chronic conditions (if available)
• CPAP compliance report (if treated for sleep apnea)
• Any employer-required forms (if applicable)

Please be advised DOT certification is determined by FMCSA guidelines. Not all drivers qualify for a full 24-month certificate.
